Bio

Lucas Colón (he/his) is a NYC-based music director, pianist, actor/improviser and pit advocate.

 

Selected pit credits include Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Falsettos, Beauty and the Beast, Heathers, Sunset Boulevard, and the Western New York premieres of both TITUS XX (a punk rock adaptation of Titus Andronicus) and WICKET: The Untold Story of the Ewoks of Bright Tree Village. He was a founding pianist for Buffalo Cast Party (Buffalo’s Theatre Open Mic).

 

In his spare time Lucas is an actor who has performed with many of Buffalo’s major stages and companies, including Shea’s 710, Shakespeare in Delaware Park, Theatre of Youth and Drunk Theatre Buffalo. He is also an ensemble member of ComedySportz NYC.

 

Lucas makes it a priority to advocate for musicians of non-traditional backgrounds, exclusively hiring BIPOC, femme, LGBT and under-30 musicians in his bands. In 2022, he was a recipient of Creatives Rebuild New York’s GIA grant for his continued pit advocacy work in WNY. In 2022 and 2023, he was part of the MUSE (Musicians United for Social Equity) 1:1 Mentorship Program, working under Ted Arthur and Josh Ceballos. In 2023, he was selected as a member of the inaugural cohort of BMEP (Broadway Musicians Equity Partnership), working under Chris Gurr on Back to the Future. In 2024, he received the BroadwayWorld Buffalo award for Best Music Direction and Orchestra Performance. He is a proud member of AFM Local 92, MUSE (Musicians United for Social Equity) and the RISE Theatre Directory.
